Seventy-seven years after the Nakba, the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in 1948, Palestinians continue to face occupation, displacement and violence.

In Lahore, the Progressive Students Collective organized a teach-in to commemorate the Nakba, discuss the ongoing violence in Gaza and reaffirm solidarity with the Palestinian liberation struggle.

The gathering provided a space for students to learn about the historical context of the Nakba and discuss its continuing significance for Palestinians. Participants also reflected on the ongoing violence in Gaza and the wider political structures they associate with occupation, colonialism and imperialism.

The teach-in emphasized the role of student organizing in keeping Palestine at the center of political discussion. Participants argued that solidarity requires understanding the historical and present conditions shaping Palestinian lives rather than treating the violence in Gaza as an isolated event.

Students also connected the Palestinian struggle with broader questions of imperialism and colonial power, highlighting the links they see between struggles across different parts of the Global South.

From Palestine to Pakistan, the gathering reaffirmed the Progressive Students Collective's commitment to raising awareness around the Palestinian cause and challenging what participants described as systems of occupation, apartheid and imperialism.
