Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Ain Pakistan (TTAP), an opposition alliance, held a press conference at the Lahore Press Club following the latest fuel price hike, criticizing the government's decision and what participants described as broader flaws in its economic priorities.
Salman Akram Raja, Secretary General of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed Qureshi, Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, and Dr. Ammar Ali Jan of the Haqooq-e-Khalq Party addressed the media during the press conference.
The speakers strongly criticized the increase in fuel prices, warning that it would place additional pressure on households and contribute to further inflation. They argued that ordinary people should not be made to bear the costs of economic decisions that disproportionately affect those with lower incomes.
The opposition representatives called for the financial burden to instead be shifted toward wealthy sections of society that, according to the speakers, benefit from state subsidies and existing economic arrangements.
Following the press conference, Advocate Haider Ali Butt, a member of TTAP, spoke about the alliance's broader demands. He criticized what he described as the government's misplaced priorities and questioned the intentions behind its economic decisions.
The press conference brought together opposition voices calling for a reassessment of the government's economic policies and greater accountability over decisions affecting the cost of living.
