On the Global Day to Fight Inequality, the Fight Inequality Alliance brought together workers, students, artists and activists in Lahore to raise concerns over growing economic and social inequality.
The gathering provided a space for discussions and collective action around the economic pressures facing working people. Participants highlighted the impact of rising inequality, debt-driven economic policies and the increasing cost of living on communities across Pakistan.
Alongside political discussions, the event featured poetry, theatre and other forms of collective expression, using art to reflect on experiences of inequality and economic insecurity.
Participants argued that the burden of economic crises continues to fall disproportionately on ordinary people, while existing economic structures protect wealth and power among a smaller section of society.
The gathering also focused on alternatives centered on people rather than profit. Speakers and participants emphasized equality, dignity and solidarity as principles for building a more just economic system.
The event concluded with calls for continued collective action against inequality and for economic policies that prioritize the needs and rights of working people.
