Lahore Pakistan - Group of peace activists gathered at the Wahga Border on Wednesday. The candles were lit up, and slogans were raised - Open the border and No war, just peace. Their message was not to aim at any government but a request to all South Asian countries, including India and Bangladesh, who have identical colonial struggles for peace and prosperity.

Muhammad Tehseen said that we want peace in Pakistan and India. With peace, we will become progressive, and our children will get quality education. Pakistan and India represent as a super powers in South Asia. The slogans of threat like to stop the treaty of water, to continue the war, will be stopped, as no one can benefit from it.

The vigil was held on the late night of 13 - 14 August 2026 and followed a seminar in Lahore entitled " Give Peace Another Chance." Participants said to resolve the disputes without conflict. Other speakers highlighted the shared history of South Asians who won independence from Britain. Their message was to unite the region together rather than divide it.

Imtiaz Alam said that we came here with the flag of independence. Today is the independence day of Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh as well. We fought this war altogether. Therefore, prosperous relations would continue. We are underdeveloped country, we want progress not the war.

The activists of Lahore also launched a new platform, the Peoples Rights Enforcement Movement (PREM), at another event on 14 August 2026 at the SAFMA Auditorium. A seminar was conducted titled Freedom and Rights and an evening of Urdu poetry at a mushaira.

Another speaker, Deep Saeeda, said that South Asia is suffering due to the complications of Pakistan and India. The whole world's 25% part consists of South Asia and is poor. Saeeda pointed out the recent protest of the youth of India that elected the right president. We have a lot of hope from this generation that can bring a positive change in a nation. It was said that the people of India have been given the freedom to do peace protest, we want this freedom in our country. Above all, we have to be hopeful and think positive.

The event went with discipline: names and ID numbers were collected in advance, and vehicles were arranged for those without their own. It was the sign that protest can be built on soft features - candles, poetry, and shared history.
